Happy Thanksgiving!

thanksclip_rdax_65Our Thanksgiving break is finally here!  I am thankful that we have 6 days of no school.  Hopefully the break will slow down the spread of the flu bug that has been going around our school!

I hope you all enjoy the break.  I hope you stay healthy, get to eat lots of food and visit with family and friends.  Most of all, I hope you stop to think about all that you have to be thankful for!

I am thankful for my family and friends, my students, my coworkers, and that our family is getting healthy again! 🙂  I am also thankful that I get the opportunity to teach at Laurelville Elementary-the BEST!

What a week!

flu bugWhat a week this past week has been!  The flu bug decided to strike the Caudill household.  Hannah was the first to get sick, followed by Molly and then ME!  The only person so escape its wrath was Chris-so far.  It was not fun and I hope it does not reappear anytime soon!  Today I am just finally beginning to feel “normal”.

I hope the week went well at school.  I trust that everyone worked hard for my sub(s) and that all of you were healthy and on your  best behavior.  I am looking forward to coming back to school on Monday and seeing everyone!  I hope you all stay healthy!

Good Luck, LE teams!

brave headWe’d like to wish the very best of luck to the Lady Braves volleyball team in their Division II State semi-final game tonight against Lake Catholic.  This is the first time in school history that our volleyball team has made a Final-4 appearance.  We are very proud of all of these girls.  Two teams members, Rebekha Lucas and Nikki Young  are former Laurelville Elementary students!

The Logan Elm football team also continues in their tournament run this evening against Springfield Shawnee.  We wish them the best of luck, as well, and hope that their season continues!  Former Laurelville Elementary students that are on the football team:  Chris Eversole (senior); Nick Hart, Dustin Fox, and Kyle Eveland (juniors); Eli Dickson and Stephen White (sophomores); and Rod Lucas, Dominick Graham, Nick SheumakerJJ Osborn, and Jesse Kerens (freshmen).

Win or lose tonight, we are so proud of all of them for their hard work and commitment to their team!

Today the students of Laurelville Elementary paid tribute to our veterans.  Mrs. Barnes, our music teacher, did an EXCELLENT job of working with the Laurelville students to prepare for this assembly.  We were honored to have the Color Guard from AMVETS Post 2256 present to show the posting of colors, display the flag of each branch of our military, and play “Taps” at the end of the service.  Grades 3-6 did a wonderful job of singing “American Tears” with the help of Leigh Davis (Miss Jo’s daughter and former Logan Elm graduate) as well as the songs of each military branch.  Sixth grade students also played hand chimes with the singing of our national anthem and our student leadership team contributed with speaking parts.  Many veterans were in attendance (men and women, young and old!) and were recognized by the military branch they served.  It was a wonderful assembly and I hope our veterans know how much we appreciate their dedication and service!

School News

Step into Laurelville school and you will definately notice the smell of chocolate.  The 5th and 6th graders are currently selling candy bars to raise money to pay for their 6th grade outdoor education camp at Camp’ Oty Okwa.   They are selling the candy bars for $1.00.  I am an ongoing supporter of this fundraiser! 🙂

Laurelville students have been working hard to prepare for our Veteran’s Day Assembly.  This will be held on Wednesday, November 11 at 2:15.  Everyone is invited to attend this special assembly to honor our veterans.

The awards ceremony for grades 4-6 will be held on Monday, Nov. 16 at 10:00.  Many students will be recogized for their hard work and success.  Also, parent-teacher conferences will be held again on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 4-7:30.

Congratulations to the Logan Elm Volleyball team!  With their win on Saturday, they now will make their 1ST EVER FINAL FOUR appearance in the state championship tournament.  We wish them the best of luck in the state semi-final game against Lake Catholic on Friday.

The Logan Elm football team was also victorious in their first tournament game on Friday against New Richmond.  They advance in the tournament to play Springfield Shawnee this Friday at 7:30.  Good luck, Braves!
