On Friday, May 28, Laurelville Elementary hosted its own Relay for Life.  With the help of our wonderful 6th grade class and the overwhelming generosity of the Laurelville community, we were able to raise OVER $4,300 for the fight against cancer!  WOW!  All of the students at Laurelville, family and friends were invited to walk in the Relay in honor or memory of loved ones who have been stricken with this terrifying disease.

On Saturday, June 12, fifth and sixth graders will continue to show their support by partipcipating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life held at the Hocking County Fairgrounds.  Everyone is invited to stop by, walk a lap (or more) and show your support for this cause!  Hope to see you there!

Fifth Grade Reflections

fifth_grade teachers wordleThe school year is coming very quickly to a close. 🙂   Now that you have successfully completed the fifth grade,  can you remember how you felt on that first day of school?  Were you nervous?  Anxious?  Excited?  Was fifth grade as bad (or good) as you thought it would be?

I would like for you to draw on your “fifth grade wisdom” and share some advice with the new fifth graders that will be coming up that last flight of stairs in August.

Fun Day

On Tuesday, the students at Laurelville were able to participate in our annual Fun Day. 🙂  Our PTO did a wonderful job (as usual) of planning this event to allow students and teachers to celebrate the end of the school year.  I would like to thank our PTO and ALL of the volunteers who came to make this day a success.  Without their efforts, events like this would never happen.

Since I missed Fun Day because I was spending a fun day with our 6th graders at Camp Oty Okwa, I’d like to know what you thought of Fun Day!  Tell us about your favorite part(s) of the day and show your appreciation to our volunteers!
