Mrs. Caudill's Classroom Connection

Connecting our classroom with our community

Where in the World?

January12

Since I created my class blog several years ago, it has been interesting to view my Clustr Map and see that we have visitors from all around the world.  Each day I list the locations of recent visitors and it has definitely been a learning experience!  I love when I see a new location and realize that “Wow, someone in that country came to my blog!”  I dont’ know how people  in countries on the other side of the world find my classroom blog, but I am certainly glad that they did and they leave a “dot” on my map! :)

There are several countries listed on my Clustr Map that I really don’t know a lot about.  Well, to be honest, MORE than several!  I came to the conclusion my students probably didn’t know about these countries, either.  Lately, we have been working on summarizing in Language Arts class, so I decided that the students would do a little project.

Each student chose a different country from the Clustr Map to research.  They are going to summarize the information and present it in a powerpoint to the class.  Not only will the students learn more about several countries, but I will also!  They are going to teach me-I love it!  :)   :)

Hey Mrs.Caudill what country can I do because I don’t know my country. If I don’t know my country how can I do my country?

    Trevor,
Choose any country from the Clustr Map on my blog. Choose one that you don’t know a lot about but would like to learn!

Hi, I am a pre-service teacher in Saskatchewan and I really love this “Where in the World” idea. It would be really neat if your students could connect online somehow with those who are visiting your blog too! Best of luck, and your blog looks great!

Thank you! I hope that my students get to connect with others around the world, also. I am curious…. what is a pre-service teacher? Would that be similar to our pre-kindergarten teachers?

Welcome to my blog!  I teach 7th grade Language Arts at McDowell Exchange School in the Logan Elm School district. I previously taught 5th grade at Laurelville Elementary (in the same district)-math for the last three years and language arts prior to that.

My hope is that this blog serves as a sort of newsletter for our class, keeping parents and students informed of class news and assignments for our Language Arts Class.  I also intend for it to be a place where students can share their writing and their thoughts on books that they are reading.

In March 2009, my blog was showcased by Sue Walters on The Edublogger site.  As a result, this blog has had visitors from all around the world.  It has been so exciting to see new dots appear on my clustr map! (see the clustr map below as of 9/24/09)  Thanks again, Sue!

Thanks for checking in. I would love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment and please visit again!
