A Foggy Start

foggy morningLogan Elm Schools were on a two-hour delay this morning due to foggy conditions in our area.  The announcement came to me via a text message on my phone at 6:00am.  Fortunately, this announcement gave my daughters some extra sleep time, which they desperately needed.  Unfortunately, I had already been in our basement and had just completed 30 minutes of exercise on the elliptical.  No going back to sleep for me!

Also, unfortunately, the One Call Now system that our school district uses to notify parents and students of such delays did NOT work this morning.  Many students were not aware that we were operating on a delay.  It was announced on local TV news channels, but if you don’t make a habit of turning on the news as soon as you get up in the morning, you missed the announcement (and some extra minutes of sleep)!

If this happened to YOU, I encourage you to sign up for a text alert through one of our local news channels.  I receive mine from the local ABC station, WSYX Channel 6.  I receive my text alert often 30-40 minutes before I receive my phone call through the One Call Now system.  It’s easy to sign up to receive these text alerts, just click here.  I also receive daily weather alerts, which is another option.

Another way to stay informed of important announcements from Logan Elm Schools is to follow them on twitter @loganelmschools.
