On Friday, May 28, Laurelville Elementary hosted its own Relay for Life.  With the help of our wonderful 6th grade class and the overwhelming generosity of the Laurelville community, we were able to raise OVER $4,300 for the fight against cancer!  WOW!  All of the students at Laurelville, family and friends were invited to walk in the Relay in honor or memory of loved ones who have been stricken with this terrifying disease.

On Saturday, June 12, fifth and sixth graders will continue to show their support by partipcipating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life held at the Hocking County Fairgrounds.  Everyone is invited to stop by, walk a lap (or more) and show your support for this cause!  Hope to see you there!

Relay for Life

Last year, Laurelville Elementary students participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.  Laurelville Elementary raised more money for cancer research than any other school in Pickaway County.  The sixth graders are again coordinating Laurelville’s efforts to raise money for cancer.  Today all students at Laurelville received a pledge envelope to begin getting donations.  As part of their fundraising efforts, the sixth graders are selling cancer stars in the cafeteria.  These $1 stars can be purchased in memory of or in honor of loved ones who have been victims of this disease.  VanCuren’s Graphics are also selling Relay for Life t-shirts for $10.  Half of that amount will be donated back to the cancer society.  Each student is encouraged to raise money for the Relay for Life.  Any student who collects ANY amount of money will particpate in  Laurelville’s own Relay for Life walk on May 29.  Please help our students in their efforts to raise  money for the fight against cancer!
