April Showers

I hope all of you enjoyed your long weekend.  I was very thankful that the weather turned out to be so nice on Saturday and Sunday.  Yesterday and today, however, I kept  thinking of the old saying “April showers bring May flowers”.  We should have a lot of May flowers if the amount of rain these last two days is any indication!

Last Thursday evening, Laurelville hosted the Logan Elm School Facilities public meeting.  It was nice to see so many people in attendance.  There were several fifth graders who attended the meeting:  Hannah Caudill, Micah Linton, Madison Haupt, Jacob Parker, Makayla Kitchen, Kennedy Fox, Eric Deluse, and Justin Payne.  I also saw Katie Hartley at the meeting held at Salt Creek on Tuesday evening.  I was glad to see so many students and their families taking an interest to be informed on such an important issue.

The awards ceremony was held today for the 3rd 9-week grading period.  Congratulations to those who earned an award.  Your attitude, responsibility and effort are certainly being noticed by your teachers and your classmates!  You are excellent role models!  I will see if I can’t get a list of all fifth grade award winners to post on the blog. . .

A Great Day

🙂 What a great day this was! 🙂 The awards ceremony was held today and there was a huge amount of awards given to the fifth graders.  I don’t think we have ever had so many students make honor roll!  Many awards were also given for Outstanding students in each class and also for Effort and Improvement.  GREAT JOB, FIFTH GRADERS!  You are certainly working hard and your teachers and peers are noticing!  Keep it up!

It was also nice to see so many family members and friends come to our awards ceremony.  Thanks for taking time out of you day to come see your child.  I know that they appreciate your presence here today!

In Math class today we looked at the results from the 2nd Quarter Assessment.  Overall, I was VERY pleased with the results of this test.  Students worked hard on this test and it was reflected in their scores.  We also reviewed surface area and I introduced ratios to them.

TGIF!

I don’t know about all of you, but to me this has been a very long week!  I am very glad it is the weekend, and even happier to know that all of the snow and ice will be melting!

Yesterday (Friday) the students took the 2nd Quarter Assessment.  Overall I was very pleased with their results.  I would like to mention 3 students who scored a perfect score on this test:  Brandon Cradlebaugh (5B), Hadley Pritchard (5A) and Kasi Robinson (5C).  Congratulations on mastering a very difficult test!  All of the tests have been graded and scores are posted to engrade.  Please check out your score.

Just a reminder that the awards assembly will be Monday.  Fifth graders will be receiving their awards at 10:00.  There are many fifth graders who will be receiving awards.  I hope you can make it!
