Would you prefer to have 6 donuts or a half dozen?  You are probably thinking, “Either because they are the same”, right?  And you ARE right, because they are equivalent values.  I used this scenario today to introduce finding equivalent fractions, fractions that “look” different (like 6 or 1/2 doz.), but actually have the same value.
