Teamwork

The fifth graders are beginning to get  into the groove of things already!  Today in Math class we set up our math binders and notebooks.  I also explained my expectations for math class.  One thing that I emphasize all year is working together to help each other out.  I will be telling students all year [...]

A Great Start!

August26

We had a terrific first day of fifth grade (at least the teachers think so)!  As usual the first day is a lot of figuring out what to do and when to do it, and where to put all that stuff.  Most of the students came with all of the supplies they need, and some [...]

Ready or Not…

August25

Ready or not, its time for another school year to begin!  Get a good night’s sleep and come prepared to have a great day tomorrow.  And remember, we are ALL a little nervous!

15 Rules for Living

At the end of this past school year, I found this list in Molly’s class folder.  Her third grade teacher, Ms. Martin, had shared it with her students.  I think these rules are pretty good ones, so I thought I would post this on the blog for anyone to read.  (Thanks, Ms. Martin ) Golden [...]

The 2009-2010 school year is just around the corner.  I hope all of you have had a great summer and are eagerly anticipating the start of another school year.  I am gradually preparing myself to get back into “school” mode.   Pages and links will be disappearing as I make changes to the blog to prepare [...]

Welcome to my blog!  I teach 7th grade Language Arts at McDowell Exchange School in the Logan Elm School district. I previously taught 5th grade at Laurelville Elementary (in the same district)-math for the last three years and language arts prior to that.

My hope is that this blog serves as a sort of newsletter for our class, keeping parents and students informed of class news and assignments for our Language Arts Class.  I also intend for it to be a place where students can share their writing and their thoughts on books that they are reading.

In March 2009, my blog was showcased by Sue Walters on The Edublogger site.  As a result, this blog has had visitors from all around the world.  It has been so exciting to see new dots appear on my clustr map! (see the clustr map below as of 9/24/09)  Thanks again, Sue!

Thanks for checking in. I would love to hear from you, so feel free to leave a comment and please visit again!
